This project was originally intended to be a pamphlet. As I began researching what to include in my guide it quickly became apparent that this type of document was desperately needed and would be quite extensive. It ended up being an 80-page book.

Information was not readily available, so I had to pull from multiple sources, including local newspapers dating back to the 1860s, to compile necessary charts and graphs. Some information sources conflicted, and I had to talk to authorities and flood survivors directly to get a first-hand account of policy and procedure.

Additionally, this project created a political controversy. Some town board members didn’t want my guide published because they feared it would lower the value of their homes in flood-prone areas. However, after being interviewed in the local paper became too widely anticipated in the community to be stopped. I printed and distributed the guide myself and raised funds for it by hosting a car wash.

I earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 16. Only 7% of all Boy Scouts reach the rank of Eagle.

Mammalton is a loose parody of Lin Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton featuring a cast of animals and an irreverent comedy style. Created by me and a friend over a period of a month, we joked through writing this less-than-serious play. 

Anne Gibbly’s (Terrific Tribulations for Growing Up Children) is a collection of poems co-written by myself and a college friend. These poems address the emotional pains felt as childhood is left behind in an ironically child-like way.
